Vertebrae can fuse together, preventing rotation and limiting movement. Nerves passing through vertebrae may also be affected. For fusions near the head or neck, headaches and dizziness may be symptoms as well.

Treatment

Typically no treatment is necessary unless mobility is severely restricted, in which case surgery is the only treatment. Surgery may not overweigh risk.
